  • Tim Morgan - State School Ventures

    Tim Morgan

    Tim qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young before spending 5 years doing M&A as an advisor and then in-house at Willis Towers Watson.

    Tim founded Mint Digital, a leading provider of software to the broadcast industry with offices in London and New York. Mint was a pioneer of the startup studio model and used its own cash to incubate and launch multiple tech startups including Picklive (exited to Sports Millions) and Stickygram (exited to Photobox).

    Tim was COO at Teller, a rapid growth US fintech backed by Founders Fund and Max Levchin’s Sci-Fi VC. Tim has invested the first cheque in the first round in each of Penfold, Mystic AI (the first startup from the South West of England to make it to YC) and Martello.

    Tim has coached many startup founders including multiple Y Combinator alumni. Tim is the founder of TMA.

  • George Bevis - State School Ventures

    George Bevis

    George is a serial entrepreneur and the founder of CanDo - a social ventures incubator which develops "for good" initiatives across commercial and not-for-profit sectors.

    He previously created Tide, the world's most innovative banking service for small businesses.  He is embarrassed about stints as a banker at Capital One, RBS and Barclays, and much prouder of various unsuccessful startups where he learnt the skills necessary to build Tide and CanDo.

  • Sandra Lyness - State School Ventures

    Sandra Lyness

    Sandra spent her school holidays working in her parents' fish and chip shop and was the first in her family to attend university where she read Engineering.

    She started as a trader at JP Morgan, before working as a consultant at KPMG where she qualified as a management accountant.

    In 2013, Sandra joined the world of venture, starting as an office manager, then accountant, then associate before working to become Head of Operations at Passion Capital.

    Sandra is now Partner at Tiny where she leads the operations and finance.

  • Tom Rogers - State School Ventures

    Tom Rogers

    Tom grew up in Cornwall, attending local comps and then Oxford University to study Mathematics. After graduating he became a self-taught web developer, getting his first, junior level job at Boomf one of Mint Digital's spin-out companies. 

    In 2015 Tom co-founded Farewill a company that has brought the archaic world of wills, probate and funerals online. In his role as CPTO, Farewill grew to be the largest will writer in the UK, raising over £300M for charities through pledges in wills as well as winning industry awards for best will writer, probate provider and funeral provider in the UK. 

    Since leaving Farewill in 2021 he has mentored, advised and provided technical leadership at various startups in the UK, he is currently the CTO of Roost - a company helping solve the housing crisis through Coops and technology.

  • Ya-Lin Timbs - State School Ventures

    Ya-Lin Timbs

    Ya-Lin grew up in West London and read English Literature and French at the University of Leeds before going on to work at Hearst in what would become a defining role – combining technology and luxury fashion in advertising operations for Harper’s Bazaar and Elle magazines’ digital products.

    Subsequently, Ya-Lin took on leadership roles at Yoox Net-a-Porter and Farfetch, building monetisation programmes and teams. Joining Farfetch ahead of IPO in 2018 to develop an entirely new business unit, she led Media Monetisation and Marketing Operations departments over 7 years and through explosive growth.

    Ya-Lin is passionate about helping others achieve success in complex, fast-paced environments, making her a trusted and sought-after advisor in the marketplace and e-commerce space.

  • Duncan Jennings - State School Ventures

    Duncan Jennings

    Duncan is Co-Founder and CEO of Ostrich, a new property marketplace and is an investor and board member at Motorway, the UK’s leading platform for selling used cars.

    Prior to Ostrich, Duncan co-founded VoucherCodes and grew the business into the largest coupon marketplace in Europe. It was acquired by RetailMeNot Inc where Duncan became an investor and executive up until its NASDAQ IPO.

    Duncan grew up in Gateshead and started his first consumer internet business before he left school. He has extensive experience in digital marketing having spent over £150m on direct customer acquisition. Duncan believes that talent is equally distributed around the country but that opportunity is probably not.

  • Rachit Moti - State School Ventures

    Rachit Moti

    Rachit grew up in Australia and has spent his career leading commercial efforts across startups and scaleups. He spearheaded the international expansion of Australian unicorn GO1 into the US, UK, and Asia, and then advised the growth strategy of Askable.

    Drawing on his background in music, Rachit founded Layer in 2021 - a licensing marketplace connecting thousands of game publishers with rights holders in film, TV, sports, and talent. Having raised $4M+ in venture capital for Layer, Rachit can help with go-to-market and commercialization for B2B businesses, building and scaling marketplaces, and raising venture capital.

    Rachit believes that technology can be a powerful force for good and that every great idea and founder deserves the opportunity to pursue their vision, no matter their background.
